Ryan Michel to become Grange CEO
Grange Insurance has named Ryan Michel its next CEO, effective March 1, 2027. He will succeed John Ammendola, who plans to retire after 12 years as CEO and 16 years with the insurer.
Michel joined Grange two years ago and currently serves as chief P&C officer, overseeing the company’s property and casualty operations. He previously served as president and chief underwriting officer at Trusted Resource Underwriters and spent more than 20 years at Allstate.
His roles at Allstate included president of Allstate Business Insurance, which managed $1 billion in commercial premium, and president and CEO of Allstate Canada. During his leadership, Allstate Canada increased premium by 50% to more than $2.4 billion.
Columbus-based Grange distributes auto, home and business insurance through independent agents across 13 states. The company reports $3.4 billion in assets and more than $1.61 billion in annual revenue.
“We are excited to have Ryan step into the role of Chief Executive Officer next year. Over the past two years, Ryan has served Grange as Chief P&C Officer responsible for leading the company’s property and casualty operations. In this role, he has been focused on a strategy of significant, profitable growth across both lines of our business. Ryan is an experienced CEO, having led Allstate Canada prior to joining Grange. During that time, he demonstrated his ability to lead an organization that invests in its people, agent partners, and community, while achieving exceptional business results. With his tremendous business acumen gained over 20 years in the industry and proven leadership abilities, Ryan is the right person to ensure our enterprise remains strong, stable, and dedicated to our mission and all those we serve.” – Marnette Perry, chair of the Grange Mutual Holding Company’s board of directors.
