Leifras enters insurance agency business
Japanese youth sports company Leifras plans to enter the non-life insurance agency business.
The Nasdaq-listed company has completed its insurance agency registration and obtained the qualifications required to explain products, provide enrollment consultations and accept applications. It plans to serve municipalities, schools and other organizations as school sports activities increasingly shift to community-based operators.
Leifras operates children’s sports schools with approximately 70,000 members. The company plans to offer insurance alongside its sports instruction and club-management services and may eventually develop sports-focused products covering injuries, 24-hour risks and members’ families.
No insurance carrier or other third-party provider was named.
