weSure acquires UBIC

weSure Digital Insurance Services has acquired Utah Business Insurance Company , expanding its US workers’ compensation operations. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Utah-based UBIC provides workers’ compensation coverage across industries including construction, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing, retail, hospitality and healthcare. Its services include loss control, claims management and workplace safety resources.

The transaction follows weSure’s September 2025 acquisition of payroll platform Hourly, which offers pay-as-you-go workers’ compensation tied to actual payroll. weSure plans to combine UBIC’s carrier operations with its underwriting technology and Hourly’s payroll capabilities.

UBIC founder Ron Nielsen will remain CEO, while the company will continue working with its independent agents and policyholders.

weSure writes approximately $1.6 billion in premiums and manages more than $8 billion in assets. Its US offerings include workers’ compensation, BOP, cyber, builders risk and E&S insurance.
