Chariot Re raises $700 million to expand life and annuity reinsurance platform
Chariot Re has closed an oversubscribed $700 million equity and debt capital raise, bringing its total funding since launch to more than $2 billion. MetLife and General Atlantic, Chariot Re’s sponsors, participated in the round, alongside institutional investors led by Chubb.
The Bermuda-based Class E life and annuity reinsurer plans to use the financing to expand its capacity for a growing pipeline of reinsurance opportunities.
Chariot Re launched in July 2025 and has since reinsured approximately $20 billion of liabilities through three transactions.
“This capital raise reflects the strong business momentum Chariot Re has built in just over a year and the progress we are making against our long-term strategy. The financing expands our capacity to scale the reinsurance platform while maintaining our focus on disciplined underwriting and policyholder protection.” – Cynthia Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Chariot Re.
