Two Insurers Team Up With Amazon For The Canadian Launch of #Alexa
Amazon’s Alexa voice-activated assistant and its Echo speakers are officially coming to Canada come December 5th. Two insurers decided to take advantage of the launch and offer their customers and/or prospects the ability to connect with them via voice .
1. Aviva
A year after launching an Alexa skill for folks in the UK, Aviva is now announcing it’s bringing the Alexa experience to Canada.
“Now, you can get answers to common insurance questions by speaking to Alexa on any Alexa device. You’ll be able to ask Alexa questions like “Alexa, ask Aviva what does full coverage mean?” or “Alexa, ask Aviva what is Accident Benefits coverage?” If you live in Ontario, you’ll also be able to get an auto insurance quote with Alexa in as little as two minutes, just by answering a few questions.”
2. Manulife
Manulife has announced the Manulife Benefits skill for Amazon Alexa; from tracking vision care to dental and other medical account balances, Manulife group benefits plan members can inquire through any Amazon Alexa-enabled device in Canada. Also, interested folks can say hello to Manulife IQ if they’re looking to learn financial terms.
“The days of expecting plan members to fill out forms or wait for a response on a quick balance check are over. Smartphones and other technologies have changed the way people do things. They want to interact when and where it’s convenient for them, so we’ve made it easier than ever for plan members to get the most out of their group benefits plan” – SVP, Group Benefits, at Manulife, Donna Carbell. Fun Fact: the skill was developed through Manulife’s innovation labs LOFT and RED Lab in collaboration with business units across the organization.
