Sompo to sponsor new PGA TOUR Championship Series event

Sompo Holdings has signed a multi-year agreement with the PGA TOUR to become the title sponsor of a full-field tournament beginning in 2027, with the event transitioning into the new PGA TOUR Championship Series in 2028.

The partnership will debut at Silverado Resort’s North Course in Napa, California, from July 26 to August 1, 2027. Beginning in 2028, the tournament will relocate to a new market tha t has yet to be announced as part of the PGA TOUR’s new Championship Series.

The 2027 event will feature a 144-player field competing in a 72-hole stroke-play format with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties. The tournament will be broadcast on CBS, Golf Channel, and PGA TOUR media platforms, including PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN+.

The sponsorship follows a series of strategic investments by Sompo in 2026, including agreements to acquire Service Insurance Companies, a U.S. workers’ compensation specialist, and Fator Seguradora in Brazil, as the insurer continues to expand its global commercial insurance operations.
