Le Garde prepares handbag insurance offering

Le Garde, a platform for valuing luxury handbags, appears to be preparing an insurance product for high-value bags.

The company filed a US trademark application for KLASPP on July 8, covering insurance brokerage and the appraisal and valuation of personal property, specifically bags.

Le Garde currently provides automated valuations based on more than 38,000 verified auction records, along with human-led appraisals for luxury handbags. Its database covers models including the Hermès Birkin, Kelly and Constance.

The company’s website is also teasing a forthcoming insurance offering promising worldwide coverage, no deductible and protection equal to 150% of the insured value. Consumers can join an early-access list, but Le Garde has not disclosed the insurer providing the coverage or when the product will launch.
