Utica National names COO
Utica National has named Abel Travis chief operating officer, effective July 27, 2026.
Travis will oversee key operational functions and work with the executive leadership team to advance the insurer’s strategic priorities, improve performance and enhance the experience of policyholders, agents and employees.
He joins Utica National from Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company, where he served as senior vice president of affiliate operations and companies. Travis previously held executive roles at AF Group, The Hanover Insurance Group, Chubb, Travelers and The Hartford.
Utica National distributes personal and commercial insurance through more than 2,500 independent agents and employs more than 1,300 people. The group also operates the second-largest errors and omissions insurance business in the US.
Separately, in April, we covered Utica National’s trademark application for “Core Advantage,” a potential new brand tied to its commercial property and casualty business. A Utica National employee’s LinkedIn profile also references the term.
