Honda pauses insurance agency operations amid market uncertainty

American Honda Finance Corporation (AHFC) has paused operations of American Honda Insurance Solutions (AHIS), less than a year after launching the licensed insurance agency.

Honda introduced the agency in 2025 to offer Honda and Acura customers access to auto, motorcycle, RV, homeowners, and other insurance products through a partnership with VIU by HUB . The company said at the time that the offering would eventually be integrated into its digital vehicle sales platforms as part of a broader insurance strategy.

The Honda Insurance Solutions website now states that the company has “paused our insurance services while we shape a future insurance experience” and is no longer offering or servicing insurance products. Existing policyholders are instructed to contact their insurance carrier directly or VIU by HUB for assistance.

In a statement to Coverager, AHFC said:

“American Honda Finance Corporation (AHFC) has paused operations of American Honda Insurance Solutions (AHIS). This decision reflects an evolving insurance landscape and ongoing uncertainty within the automotive industry. AHFC will monitor market conditions with the goal of resuming operations when the business climate is more favorable. There is no impact to customers who have purchased insurance products through AHIS services.”

Honda Insurance Solutions’ website recorded about 27,800 visits from April through June 2026, with more than 97% of referral traffic originating from American Honda Finance, according to Similarweb.
