Morrisons enters insurance with Hood Group

Morrisons has launched pet and travel insurance, marking the UK grocer’s entry into the category and its first move to monetize the More Card loyalty base through insurance.

The retailer partnered with Hood Group , which delivers the digital journey for both products through Morrisons.com.

Pet coverage is underwritten by Burns & Wilcox Global Solutions on behalf of Accredited Insurance (UK), with three lifetime tiers carrying annual vet fee limits of £2,500, £5,000, or £10,000, direct vet-fee payment, and a 24/7 UK-based Pet Health Assist Line.

Travel insurance is underwritten by AXA across three matching tiers, with gadget cover bundled as standard on direct purchases.

Loyalty does the heavy lifting. New pet policyholders earn 20,000 More Points; travel buyers get 10% off. Every 5,000 points converts to a Morrisons Fiver redeemable in-store or online — wiring insurance uptake straight into the shopping relationship rather than standing it up as a separate financial product.

Bottom Line: Tesco comes to mind.
