CFC pilots agentic underwriting with Lane Assist
CFC has launched a pilot of agentic underwriting with its new tool, Lane Assist.
The tool takes submissions from email through to quote recommendation in seconds, automating data extraction and quote construction for lower complexity risks. The pilot is currently live within CFC’s cyber underwriting team, handling a small number of real submissions with underwriter oversight before any quote is issued.
Lane Assist is designed to speed up quoting for high volume risks, reducing friction for brokers while allowing underwriters to focus on more complex cases. The company is testing the model in live workflows before considering a broader rollout.
“Lane Assist represents a genuine step change in how underwriting can be augmented responsibly using AI. This is not a lab experiment – it’s working with real submissions, in live workflows. By starting small, we can validate outcomes, learn quickly and ensure the technology fully supports our underwriters rather than overriding their judgement. This pilot puts us firmly on the front foot in our AI journey. Our focus is on scaling agentic underwriting in a way that is genuinely valuable – for brokers, underwriters and ultimately our customers.” – Chris Mullan , Head of Data and AI.
