Allstate adds gas price comparison to mobile app
Allstate is highlighting a gas price comparison feature inside its mobile app, powered by GasBuddy, as fuel costs hover around $4 per gallon ahead of spring travel.
The insurer says usage of the in-app gas finder is up 85% since the start of the year, with more than 50,000 weekly visits, as drivers look for cheaper fuel without downloading a separate app.
Beyond fuel price comparisons, the app also points users to maintenance services and repair shops, while promoting safe driving through its Drivewise program. Allstate notes that customers using Drivewise are less likely to experience severe collisions.
The push reflects a broader effort to position the app as a cost-saving tool, combining everyday utilities like gas price tracking with insurance-linked features such as driving feedback and repair networks.
Bottom Line: 10 years ago Esurance had Fuelcaster. Not everything has to change.
