Risk Theory
has acquired Roundhill Express, a managing general agent focused on commercial habitational properties in New York City, marking its first MGA acquisition.
Roundhill Express underwrites property and general liability coverage for one- to ten-unit buildings, including landlord-tenant, owner-occupied, and mixed-use risks, and distributes through a proprietary online portal. The business will continue operating under its brand, with policies backed by Amherst Specialty Insurance Company, Risk Theory’s affiliated surplus lines carrier.

Founded in 2013, Risk Theory operates 15 specialty programs across seven brands and works with more than 2,000 producers. The deal expands its presence in a constrained urban property segment where admitted carriers have pulled back, while giving the platform direct control over underwriting and capacity through its carrier stack, which includes Amherst Specialty and Amherst National Insurance Company.
