Rover acquires cat-sitting marketplace Meowtel

Rover.com has acquired Meowtel , a cat-focused pet-sitting marketplace, as it expands its investment in cat-centric care. The deal brings Meowtel’s network of more than 4,000 cat sitters and coverage across 8,000 U.S. cities onto Rover’s platform.

Founded in 2015, Meowtel has facilitated care for more than 125,000 cats, specializing in in-home cat sitting tailored to cats that prefer staying in familiar environments. Rover said the acquisition accelerates its ability to serve cat owners with distinct care needs, complementing its existing dog-focused offerings.

Meowtel will continue to operate as an independent brand under its co-founders, CEO Sonya Petcavich and CTO Bruno Leveque. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
