5Star Life appoints Ronald Gendreau as Board Chair
The 5Star Life Insurance Company has appointed Ronald R. Gendreau as chair of its board of directors, effective January 1, 2026.
Gendreau joined the 5Star Life board in 2013 and has served as lead independent director since 2018. He brings nearly five decades of insurance experience, having started his career as an actuary in 1976 and held senior leadership roles across individual, worksite, and group life insurance at Travelers, Unum, Colonial Life, and The Hartford.
5Star Life is the primary underwriter for member policies of the Armed Forces Benefit Association and also provides group and worksite voluntary products to civilian employers. The company is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and is licensed in 49 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa.
AFBA, founded in 1947, serves nearly 915,000 members and reports roughly $57 billion in death benefits in force, with underwriting primarily handled by its affiliate, 5Star Life.
