Aviva Canada commits $250,000 to Team Rubicon Canada

Aviva Canada has committed $250,000 in funding to Team Rubicon Canada to support disaster response, mitigation, and preparedness efforts across the country.

The funding comes as Team Rubicon Canada marks its 10th year operating in Canada, a period defined by increasingly frequent and severe climate-driven events. The investment is intended to strengthen operational readiness, including training and deploying the organization’s volunteer workforce, known as Greyshirts, and expanding programs focused on disaster mitigation and long-term community resilience.

Aviva said the partnership reflects its frontline view of how extreme weather is affecting households and businesses nationwide. By supporting Team Rubicon Canada’s response capabilities, the insurer aims to help communities recover faster and improve preparedness ahead of future events.

Beyond funding, the collaboration includes employee volunteer participation in Team Rubicon Canada missions and joint advocacy efforts focused on improving how disaster response and preparedness systems operate across Canada.

Team Rubicon Canada works alongside federal, provincial, and local governments as part of Canada’s Humanitarian Workforce. Since launching Canadian operations following the Fort McMurray wildfire, the organization has built a network of more than 4,300 volunteers and deployed on more than 150 missions in Canada and internationally.
