Sompo enters end-of-life planning with Kamakura Shinsho alliance

Sompo Holdings has entered into a capital and business alliance with Kamakura Shinsho , acquiring a 10% stake as it expands its SOMPO Wellbeing business into end-of-life planning and post-death support.

Under the agreement, Sompo plans to integrate Kamakura Shinsho’s funeral, grave, nursing care, and inheritance services into its broader wellbeing ecosystem, aiming to support customers across life stages and extend relationships to family members after death. The partnership aligns with Sompo’s strategy to deliver connected services spanning health, caregiving, and retirement, while addressing the needs of Japan’s aging population.

As a first step, end-of-life consultation services will be offered to users of Sompo Care’s nationwide nursing care operations, as well as customers of Wellbio and Wellbio Biz. Sompo also plans to introduce these services to policyholders of Sompo Himawari Life Insurance at appropriate life stages.
