SiriusPoint to acquire Assist America through IMG Unit

SiriusPoint is expanding its global assistance footprint. The specialty insurer and reinsurer announced that International Medical Group, a wholly owned SiriusPoint subsidiary, will acquire Assist America , a provider of emergency travel assistance services.

Founded in 1990, Assist America generates roughly $20 million in annual assistance revenue and works primarily with insurers, embedding its services into corporate benefit plans. The company supports more than 40 million members across North America, Asia, and the Middle East.

The acquisition strengthens IMG’s third party medical and travel assistance business, adds scale in the US, and extends its geographic reach across Asia and the Middle East. SiriusPoint said the deal adds capital light fee income and is expected to be accretive to return on equity and earnings per share.

SiriusPoint CEO Scott Egan said the transaction deepens IMG’s global assistance capabilities and creates new growth opportunities, while IMG CEO Will Nihan pointed to expanded reach and enhanced service offerings for insurer partners. Assist America CEO Brian Mulligan said the company is entering its next phase with added financial backing after more than three decades as a family owned business.
