Compare Pet case wrapped after Chapter 11 filing

The $20 million lawsuit filed by U.S. News & World Report and 360 Reviews against Compare Pet Insurance Services (Petted) and CEO Alex Stone has officially come to an end — not with a judgment, but with a bankruptcy filing and a full discontinuance.

The case, filed in May 2025, accused Compare Pet of pressuring insurers to stop working with U.S. News’ 360 Reviews after it began directing traffic to another aggregator. The defendants denied the claims and moved to dismiss, also securing a court order to seal the parties’ Insertion Order due to confidential business terms.

The turning point came on July 21, 2025, when Compare Pet and parent company Wag filed for Chapter 11 in Delaware. The bankruptcy triggered an automatic stay, freezing the New York case and halting any chance of immediate recovery.

On November 19, 2025, both sides filed a stipulation discontinuing the lawsuit with prejudice and without costs.
