UI Health deploys Abridge’s AI documentation platform
Abridge announced that UI Health, the academic health enterprise at the University of Illinois Chicago, will deploy its enterprise-grade AI platform across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care.

UI Health serves a linguistically diverse population of 1.4 million patients annually. Abridge’s automatic speech recognition technology is tailored to support bilingual clinicians who converse with their patients in multiple languages, including Spanish, Arabic, Polish, and Chinese.
UI Health previously piloted Abridge and saw Press Ganey scores for “provider explained in a way you understand” rise from 91% to 97%. The platform integrates with Epic and is designed to reduce documentation time while improving communication with a linguistically diverse patient population.
“We prioritize technology that enables the best experience for both our workforce delivering care and the patients receiving it. With Abridge, we’ve focused on easing the documentation burden for clinicians while supporting a more seamless experience for our diverse patient population.” – Dr. David Chestek, Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine and Chief Medical Information Officer for UI Health.
“Abridge helps reflect one of the things that matter most: enabling clinicians to meet their patients where they are.” – Dr. Shiv Rao, CEO and Co-Founder of Abridge and a practicing cardiologist.
