Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan launches Ting program

Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan announced a new fire safety program that will provide Ting smart sensors and three years of fire prevention service at no cost to homeowners. At launch, Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan will provide Ting to 10,500 policyholders and is planning for program expansion.

Ting is a plug-in sensor, created by Whisker Labs, that monitors a home for electrical hazards that can lead to fires. It provides early detection of problems in home wiring, appliances and devices, and utility-provided power. Ting delivers real-time alerts and works directly with homeowners to identify and mitigate electrical hazards.

To date, Ting has reached over 900,000 homes and protected over 14,000 families from potentially devastating fires. The company claims that its solution is proven to prevent 4 out of 5 home electrical fires.

Whisker Labs partnered with Hartford Steam Boiler in 2018 to bring Ting to the insurance market.
