RAC celebrates 50 tears of DAFaid and a 32-year partnership milestone

RAC is celebrating a 50-year milestone of DAFaid, the roadside assistance program for the commercial vehicle industry, along with a 32-year partnership with the scheme.

DAFaid has been around since 1974, but it’s been working with the RAC since 1992, making it the RAC’s longest-standing business roadside assistance client.

Throughout this partnership, RAC has created a dedicated 24/7 control center for DAF customers. In 2023, the center handled over 113,000 calls for assistance, a 5.6% increase from 2022.

The DAFaid Control Centre also supports DAF’s European roadside assistance service, International Truck Service (ITS), helping over 1,100 DAF customers in the UK.

To celebrate DAFaid’s 50th anniversary, RAC’s DAFaid team at Walsall HQ participated in a “guess the part” game featuring a DAFaid truck and toured two models: an RAC DAF LF Tilt Slide Recovery Truck and a New Generation DAF XG 450. DAFaid also treated its team to hospitality tickets for the Silverstone Classics Festival.
