Munich Re Ventures backs ZwitterCo
ZwitterCo has raised $58.4 million in a Series B round led by Evok Innovations, with participation from DCVC, BHP, Munich Re Ventures, Siteground, HG Ventures, and Blue Horizon Advisors. This round brings the total funding to $99 million.
Founded in 2018, the Massachusetts-based company provides membrane solutions for treating highly-impaired wastewater. ZwitterCo’s membranes enable the treatment of historically unfilterable streams, allowing customers to manage and recover value from water, transforming waste from a cost to a benefit. ZwitterCo offers water treatment and separation solutions that reduce chemical demands, maintain steady performance, and have long-lasting durability.
“Climate change is simultaneously driving water scarcity and increasing demand for water in industries critical to the low-carbon transition. This funding will allow us to rapidly scale our breakthrough membrane technology, empowering industries to reliably and affordably access unconventional water resources while ensuring the water used or recycled in these industries meets the highest purity standards.” – ZwitterCo Co-Founder and CEO Alex Rappaport.
