George Williams to lead Nationwide’s small market commercial lines business
Nationwide has appointed George Williams to lead its Small Market Commercial Lines business. Williams previously served as the company’s chief operating officer for commercial lines, excess & surplus, and specialty, and brings more than two decades of industry experience to the role.
“Leading a small commercial platform requires a combination of underwriting, technology, operational excellence and customer focus,” said Russ Johnston, Nationwide’s president of Commercial Lines, Excess & Surplus, Specialty. “George has a proven background in these areas that will enable us to drive this important business forward for Nationwide.”
Williams joined Nationwide in December 2021 after serving as Head of Global Client Support Services for Guy Carpenter, where he led a transformation to bring client service and claims insights forward to create greater value for clients. His background includes serving as COO of AIG’s North American General Insurance division, Global Small and Middle Market Enterprises Product Leader for US, UK, Southeast Asia and Germany, and General Manager of AIG’s Germany, Austria and Switzerland business portfolio.
“I’m excited to lead Small Market Commercial Lines for Nationwide as we focus on a specialized appetite and a streamlined digital experience for our agents,” said Williams. “Like most of the P&C market, we’ve taken actions to improve performance, and we are committed to Small Commercial customers who value protection from a trusted brand.”
Williams has already started in the new role.
