HSBC to launch Zing
Banking giant HSBC is set to launch a payments app in the UK that will offer foreign exchange services to retail consumers, including those who are not HSBC customers.
The bank said it would launch a multi-currency app and debit card named Zing that will allow customers to hold money in 10 different currencies, spend money abroad, and make international transfers across more than 30 currencies.
Zing will initially be offered in the UK with plans to roll out in other places in the coming months.
“Zing has a global ambition. We want to establish ourselves as a global platform for international payments, which ties perfectly with our international payments strategy for HSBC and you should see us very soon in Asia, in the Middle East and in EU markets.” – Nuno Matos, CEO, Wealth and Personal Banking, HSBC.
