Photo Verification Startup Truepic Announces Funding and Eyes Insurance
Photo verification startup Truepic is possibly a new entrant in the insurance scene. The San Diego-based company has just picked up $1.75 million in a seed round bringing its total funding to date to $2.5M. Here’s how it works. Truepic offers an app that can verify if an image taken hasn’t been edited and watermarks it with a time stamp, geocode, and other metadata. Who can use this? A few use cases are dating and/or home rental sites. Also, insurance companies can use the app to verify claim damage. Businesses need a solution to combat the rampant falsification of images online, and consumers want to share authentic photos that others will believe are the real thing. That’s Truepic – we’re truly the anti-filter” – Craig Stack, Truepic co-founder and COO. Recall 2017 insurance-related investments here.
