Introducing Slide Insurance

Slide Insurance is a Tampa-based personal lines insurance startup founded this year and led by the former CEO and co-founder of Heritage Insurance , Bruce Lucas.

In ’emerging’ mode, Slide looks to offer homeowners’ and commercial residential coverage. Taken from Crunchbase, “Slide Insurance is a Tampa-based insurtech company that uses artificial intelligence and data science to help consumers buy and maintain the right insurance at the right price for their needs and budget. Founded in 2021 by insurance and technology veterans, the company sells homeowners’ and commercial residential coverage.”

Based on the company’s trademark application – filed on October 1st – there’s a hint to a full-stack offering where users may be able to purchase and administer insurance, receive quotes, submit claims, obtain proof of insurance, pay for insurance, and manage their policies online.

Lucas co-founded Heritage Insurance in 2012, a publicly-traded, Clearwater-based P&C firm with a market cap of approximately $200 million. Heritage has over 600 employees, is active in 16 states, and is the 19th largest home insurer nationwide.  Florida property insurance accounts for 30% of Heritage’s property total insured value but reflects 51% of premiums in force, according to the company’s investor presentation.

Bottom Line: Heritage “used to be good until CEO left abruptly and many aspects changed.”
